A short glimpse of spring this morning on the yard, the sun was shining and it was looking hopefully that i would be able to go XC schooling tomorrow with 6 horses but then.... The heavens opened again! typical!
Getting closer and closer to the start of the event season and i am desperate to get the babies out.
As the heavy rain continued all morning i worked the horses in the school, all of them rather unimpressed with being taken out of their stable and away from their hay and worse still to do half pass in the rain!
On Thursday i had a visit from Katy from TopSpec who brought over some goodies for the start of the season, some new coats and rugs and something that will defiantly be handy a bright green and yellow umbrella!
She weighed Chilean Boy and has put him on the a feeding regime, as well as weighing Divilabit, Bonne Amie and Creeslough. This was very interesting and showed that they were all in great condition for the start of the season.
Fingers crossed for a dry night and XC schooling might be on the cards for tomorrow!!

24th Feb- Addington Manor- Arena Eventing
Another successful day today, I took 2 horse for the Intro and 2 for the Pre-Nov.
Creeslough put up another good performance in both jumping phases going double clear after a rather lively Dressage, a little tense and excitable, but there was the excuse of a very naughty horse doing "Airs above the ground" in the next door arena!! He finished 5th in his section.
Five Alive did a beautiful dressage and was the best of all sections but sadly didn't take to the arrow head towards the end of the XC - Best get some more practise in!! Aloud to compete in the SJ this was much improved on last time!
Argentinus in the Pre-Nov improved his dressage score on last time, He was much more secure to the contact and managed to stand in his Halt immobility for a whole 4 seconds!! Rather than doing rapid rein back! Growing up more and more every time he goes out. In the XC phase he was jumping well untill the arrowhead where he was a little green although then jumped it - Then did a lovely clear in the SJ. Even still he came 6th.
Lastly Ballycullane Dundee put in a consistent dressage, very relaxed and calm then did a lovely double clear to finish 2nd in his section!

23rd Feb - Squad Training at Bury Farm
Today Bonne Amie and Divilabit both had good training sessions with Emma Fisher.
Divilabit ( Snoopy) Worked well on the flat after settling into things in the indoor arena. Working on his shoulder movement to help improve his weakest gait of Medium trot. Plenty of lateral work began to help this. this session was then followed by lots of riding without stirrups!
I thankfully came prepared with a neck strap for his occasional joy full buck!
After lots of exercises with our legs both myself and the other riders began to ride with a longer leg and more relaxed through the knee and ankle.
This is something i have not done much of for a while so i expect to be a little sore in the morning!
After lunch we started on jumping exercises, Bonne Amie (Bobo) thought this was all very exciting at first and was amusing herself by leaping over the poles on the floor, soon these were made into crosses on a related distance this helped contain the excitement... a little, Although she was jumping very well.
We then put a few jumps together with lots of turns asking plenty of questions although not overly big they caused enough problems, Especially when sat on a "Little Rubber ball" as described by Emma. She overshot the turn at first but then soon began to concentrated, relax and this improved the rythm which made the exercise seem easy.
A very productive day, and was even better because of the lovely indoor arena which ment i was not getting wet and snowed on riding at home!!

New Year - New Season and a new blog to keep everyone updated with the exciting event season ahead!
The 2010 Event Season is fast approaching and an exciting one it is hoped to be!
I have a few exciting new rides that have progressed over the winter and I am looking forward to their first outing!
Entries have now opened for my first few events and the horses seem on excellent form despite to snow putting a delay on things.
I have been keeping busy over the winter spending pretty much every Tuesday at Addington Manor competing the horses in the BSJA classes and them all giving fantastic results - even the babies!
I have had regular dressage lessons with Rhett Bird who has been been a fantastic help, both last season and throughout the off season.
Now just to get everyone out cross country schooling, before the first Event! If only the weather would improve this would be possible! Thankfully I have been once already with the horses whom are competing first.
Anyway, I hope you will all enjoy reading my blog over the coming event season, I will be sharing Event Plans, Results and updates as well as memorable moments!
